Before You Book
The questions men actually ask.
Will I look obvious, or natural?
That’s the whole reason the technique matters. A deep-plane lift repositions the deeper tissue layer rather than pulling the skin tight — and skin tension is exactly what reads as “work done.” Eyes and brow are refreshed conservatively and kept masculine. The goal is your face, rested, so people say you look great rather than asking what you had done. It’s still surgery, and results are individual, but natural is planned for on purpose.
How discreet is it — will anyone be able to tell?
Discretion is built in. The consultation is private, the plan is designed to read as “rested,” not “operated on,” and a well-planned refresh is meant to be undetectable — colleagues notice you, not the work. We’ll also talk honestly about the recovery window so you can plan around your calendar.
How much downtime are we really talking about?
Honestly: eyelid surgery means roughly one to two weeks of visible bruising for most men, and a neck or lower-face procedure roughly two weeks of visible swelling and bruising, with the result refining for months after. These are typical ranges, individual, and never guaranteed — no “lunchtime” or “back tomorrow” promises. Many men plan around a stretch of lighter travel or remote work.
I’d rather not go under. Is there an awake option?
For suitable candidates, a deep-plane lift can be done awake under local anesthesia — a safer alternative to general anesthesia for those who qualify, often with a faster recovery. It is candidacy-gated, not for everyone, and still real surgery; your surgeon confirms whether it’s right for you in person.
What’s the difference between a deep-plane and a “regular” lift?
An older skin-tightening lift takes up slack by tightening the skin, which can look tight when overdone. An extended deep-plane lift repositions the deeper muscle-and-fat layer as one unit, so the skin isn’t under tension — that’s what makes movement stay natural and a lower-face result last longer.
How do I choose the right surgeon?
That’s the real decision — so this starts by meeting yours. You want a board-certified facial-plastic surgeon who operates on men’s faces regularly, who shows you a 3D preview on your own face, and who’s willing to tell you what he wouldn’t do. Meeting him first, before deciding anything, is the step that removes the guesswork.
How is the 3D preview different from a real result?
A 3D preview is a simulation to help you picture a likely outcome and design your plan with your surgeon — it is not a guarantee, and your actual result will be your own. It removes the biggest uncertainty (“how will I look?”) without pretending to be a certainty. Candidacy and the final plan are confirmed at your consultation.
What about the cost?
Fees are a private conversation, discussed one-to-one with the practice at your consultation once a plan is designed for your face — every plan is different, so there’s no one number to post. The consultation itself is free and no-obligation. Asking is welcome; it’s exactly what the consult is for.
How do I know if I’m even a candidate?
The 60-second assessment gives a first read in about a minute. It isn’t a diagnosis — a board-certified facial-plastic surgeon confirms candidacy, and the right timing, at your free private consultation, for patients 18 and over.
